Category Descriptions


Many categories are divided into Prestige and Mass:

Prestige Fragrances and Cosmetics: Any brand within the make-up, cosmetics, skincare, fragrances, body care (lotions, sprays, oils) and hair care categories which is first introduced in retail channels other than Food, Drug or Mass Merchandiser.

 

Mass Fragrances and Cosmetics: Any brand within the make-up, cosmetics, skincare, fragrances, body care (lotions, sprays, oils) and hair care categories which is first introduced in the Food, Drug or Mass Merchandiser retail channels.

 


BATH & BODY

Body Treatment:

Treatment products designed specifically for the Body, including Hand & Feet. This includes: Body Cleansers, Body Exfoliators, Body Moisturizers, Firming/Cellulite, Treatment Shave.

Scented Bath & Body:

Body products which are applied to the skin or put into the bath to impart a scent/fragrance to the skin. This can include body sprays, body splashes, and body mists.

FACIAL SKINCARE

Products primary usage must be treatment (not makeup)

Acne Treatment:

Products or treatment systems specifically designed to prevent against acne or specifically treat acne breakouts, usually used as a step in the facial care process in addition to cleansing and moisturizing.

Anti-Aging:

Specific products and treatment systems that address critical aging needs and prevent premature skin aging and/or correct/minimize chronological skin damage. 

Cleanser & Scrub:

Cleansers: Products that remove debris and impurities from the facial area, including cleansing products that also offer secondary benefits like anti-acne, oil control, or makeup removal.

Scrubs: Products designed either chemically or manually to remove excess dead skin cells, stimulating cell turnover and softening skin for an even complexion. Also includes exfoliators, whether chemical (peels, etc.) or manual (micro-dermabrasion, etc.).

Eye Treatment (without color):

Eye products specifically designed for the eye area to firm, moisturize, refresh, protect, reduce lines or all of the above.

Moisturizer:

Face products designed for dry, oily or combination type skins that provide moisturization and deliver hydration. May be used morning and/ or night. 

HAIR

Hair Care, Style & Coloring Product

Products designed to cleanse condition, detangle or style hair or scalp. This includes Shampoos, Conditioners, Hair Color, Hair Sprays, and Styling Mousse/ Gels.

MEN’S GROOMING

Men’s Grooming— Face & Body

Any skincare product designed exclusively for men, including facial moisturizers, cleansers, scrubs, treatment shave, hair, and body products.

MAKEUP

Products primary usage must be makeup (not treatment)

Eye Product:

Makeup products designed specifically to emphasize the eye area through a variety of shade choices (i.e. Eye Shadow, Eye Liner, Mascara, Eye Brow Liners/Shapers).

Face Product:

Products designed specifically to provide face coverage or contouring through matching skin tone shades (i.e. Foundation, Powder, Blush and Concealer).

Lip Product:

Makeup product designed to provide color or shine to the lips (i.e. Lip Color, Lip Liner and Lip Gloss).

MENS & WOMENS SCENT (Fragrance)       

Product with single function of delivering scent. Bath or body products with scent should not be entered in this category. (see scented bath & body category)

SUN

Sun Product

NOTE:Includes sun protection, tanning or self-tanning products. Products designed specifically for in sun, self-tanning and after-sun use including Lip products.
