Beauty Insiders Vote on the "Must Have" Products of 2006

600+ New Products Vie for Top Honors at CEW Beauty Awards Product Demonstration

NEW YORK, February 6, 2007—It is the beauty industry’s biggest night, and the official start of its most prestigious competition. On Thursday, February 15th a sold-out crowd of experts in the cosmetic industry will gather at the 2007 Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Beauty Awards Product Demonstration to touch, smell, and sample the best new beauty products of the year. At stake is the industry’s highest honor—the “Insider’s Choice” Award.

This year’s Demonstration is the largest ever. With a 25% increase in the number of products submitted for judging (620+), and an unprecedented rise in CEW’s voting membership (nearly 4,300 members), the event will turn the Metropolitan Pavilion and neighboring Altman building into the biggest “beauty counter” of its kind.

CEW, the beauty industry’s premier trade organization, helps consumers choose between the thousands of new products on the market. “The ultimate beauty insiders, CEW members have exposure and access to the best in beauty technology and are uniquely qualified to judge the most innovative products of the year,” says Carlotta Jacobson, CEW President. “The CEW Beauty Awards give our members a rare opportunity to come together to pick their favorites… and a way to share their expertise.”

The CEW Beauty Awards encompass a two-step voting process: CEW members will first determine the finalists in each of 33 categories. The CEW Board of Governors will later vote to determine the winners. Both ballots—for finalists and winners—will be cast electronically and tabulated by Ernst & Young LLP.

2007 CEW Beauty Awards finalists will be named in early March. A gala red-carpet event, the 2007 CEW Beauty Awards ceremony will follow on Wednesday, May 2nd at the Waldorf-Astoria, where a star-studded line-up of presenters will announce the winning products.

Also presented at this year’s ceremony will be the Indie Beauty Award, which celebrates the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of an independent beauty company. Past winners include MD Skincare® by Dr. Dennis Gross, Freeze 24/7, and ColorMetrics.

The 2007 CEW Beauty Awards are sponsored by Allure, Givaudan, Arcade Marketing, FreshLook Color Contact Lenses, CVS/pharmacy, Restylane, Crest Whitestrips Daily Multicare, Rohm and Haas, Lalique, WWDBeauty Biz, Suite K, The Royal Promotion Group, KraftWorks, Vidicom, Ma Cher, HBA Global Expo, Alpha Logica, Digital Plus, and Barefoot Wines.

Ballots tabulated by Ernst & Young.
