In a series of conversations with top women beauty leaders about their career passion points, Cara Sabin, CEO of Sundial Brands, shares her passion for a more equitable and inclusive workforce in the beauty industry. Here, Cara talks about how she exercises this passion in her career.

“I’m passionate about advancing the careers of Black and brown women in all aspects of the beauty industry: entrepreneurs/founders, managers in corporate roles, scientists and product formulators, creatives in front of the camera and behind the scenes. I think our perspective, experience, stories and contributions matter and deserve to be acknowledged and recognized because we drive culture, and therefore we drive the industry.

I exercise this daily in my career and lead in a way that I encourage my team to do the same. I don’t believe in taking the path of least resistance, I believe in striving towards building a truly inclusive beauty industry and for decades, Black and brown women have been marginalized by “Big Beauty.” My passion point is to be disruptive and change the game – not by grand, performative gestures, but in the daily practice of leadership.”
