In a series of conversations with top women beauty leaders about the passion points within their jobs, executive leader Marcela Melero, Vice president, Global Dove Skin Cleansing, Unilever, discusses how she looks towards travel to inspire her global role in the world of marketing.

I always loved travelling, getting to know new places, cultures, and people. From nice family trips with my parents, to backpacking trips with my friends, I always liked thinking how my life would be in another place. When I joined Unilever in Argentina, little did I know I would end up living in the U.S., having a global marketing job for more than 16 years. Being global means that I need to make our brand relevant across multiple markets, getting to know consumers in very different contexts and situations, and having the privilege to ‘peek’ into their lives. For me, it is fascinating to see how consumers in Mumbai and in Shanghai can be so different and yet so similar at the same time! Being global also means I can work with teams across multiple markets, so every weekly connect with each of my teams makes me feel like I am traveling a little. I am glad that after two years of lockdown we are getting back to traveling again!”
