Clairol Introduces Reformulated Natural Hair Color Line

In response to consumer’s interest in natural ingredients and safe products, Clairol has released its reformulated Natural Instincts Demi-Permanent Hair Color, which parent company Coty said is the healthiest and most natural hair color available in its portfolio. The new DIY formula is made with 80 percent naturally-derived ingredients, including coconut oil and aloe vera, and is designed to feel like a conditioning treatment, while providing a subtle boost of color. Moreover, formulas are free from parabens, ammonia and PPD/PTD, the latter of which has been replaced with ME+ technology, a new dye molecule that significantly reduces the risk of developing an allergy to hair dye. The product also boasts eco-friendly, FSC-registered packaging that’s made from responsible sources and PVC-free plastic bottles. The demi-permanent formula develops in 20 minutes and washes out after 28 days, making it a good option for those who don’t want a long-term color commitment. The formula is available in 37 shades, and includes deeper shades to accommodate multicultural hair, as well as a few trend-based shades such as Rose Gold. It retails for $8 at major mass retailers including Walmart, Target, CVS and Rite Aid.
