Beautycounter’s Beyond Gloss is a finalist in this year’s CEW Beauty Creators Awards Lip Product category. The product features ECOCERT-certified organic vanilla from Madagascar and responsibly-sourced mica, and is designed to deliver high-impact shine with lip conditioning benefits. Each batch is tested for heavy metals to ensure it meets the brand’s rigorous safety standards. “The true North Star of Beautycounter has always been our mission of changing the industry through leading by example and getting safer products into the hands of everyone,” said Gregg Renfrew, Co-Founder, Beautycounter. “When we go to innovate in terms of the physical product pipeline, we’re always looking at how to hold ourselves to the highest standards and then we ask the industry to follow our lead. We also don’t just look at a list of restricted ingredients, but instead, we focus on12 different touchpoints to define our own blueprint for clean.”
In April, global investment firm, The Carlyle Group, acquired a majority stake in Beautycounter, valuing the clean beauty’s parent company, Counter Brands LLC, at $1 billion. “With the Carlyle investment, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner,” said Gregg. “They are focused heavily on increasing awareness of our brand, helping us amplify the efforts of our omnichannel approach, and helping us advocate for cosmetic reform. We’re really going to lean into all the areas we’re already seen growth and strength and of course, new products are coming.”
