It seems like too many years have passed since Manhattan celebrated the opening of a fabulous, luxe hair salon.  So it is with much fanfare that the former home to several of the world’s most important salon experiences (Frédéric Fekkai, John Barrett) is now welcoming Salon Yoshiko at Bergdorf Goodman. Founded by psychiatric therapist and life-long philanthropist, Carol Nappi, Salon Yoshiko at Bergdorf Goodman opened April 7 and will serve as a creative collective housing some of the most sought-after beauty experts on the penthouse floor of the world-famous department store, located on 754 Fifth Avenue. Everything from styling to cuts to waxing to facials to makeup services are on offer, and features Seiji Kitazato as its Creative Director and Parvin Klein as its Color Director.

Carol, who bills herself as a “lifetime client of the retailer” and a 10-year client of the John Barrett salon, said she saw a white space in the salon community: a need for a space that practiced humility, continuous learning, and teamwork. “My philosophy in beauty is that it encompasses the mind, body and spirit,” explains Carol on a promotional video on the salon’s website.

Salon Yoshiko pays homage to Carol’s mother who was born in Wajima, Japan. Yoshiko means beauty, goodness, and joy. It is also her mother’s first name, who at 93, continues to inspire Carol every day. The salon will serve as a platform to raise awareness to various philanthropic organizations and will donate all profits to a number of charities, including the Alzheimer’s Association, which Carol’s mother suffers from.

Designed by Thom Felicia, the 4,500 square-foot space follows the laws of Feng Shui, and is filled with natural light, and encapsulates a neutral color palette and organic textures.

Services include cuts (starting at $170), color ($195 for a single process), facials (starting at $225), waxing (from $40), and nails (from $50). Products used in the salon include Salon Yoshiko signature shampoo and conditioner ($45 each); Mesauda Cosmetics from Milan (Salon Yoshiko is the exclusive retail partner in the U.S.); Babor Skincare; and Milbon from Japan for all styling products.

The salon is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
