The UK chapter of CEW held its annual Achiever Awards event Monday evening, a black-tie affair held at the Dorchester Hotel honoring beauty’s best and also marking CEW UK’s 25th Anniversary.

The evening commenced with a champagne reception followed by an awards ceremony and formal dinner. More than 300 attendees celebrated CEW UK’s important milestone, and paid recognition to the night’s talent.

President of CEW UK Caroline Neville said, “A CEW Achiever is someone who has worked hard throughout their career and been successful in their professional life, but more than this, they will have exhibited a high degree of willingness to help others and above all conducted themselves as a role model.”

The Achiever Award Honorees included Lorraine Candy, the Luxury Content Director of The Sunday Times and Editor in Chief of Style. Lorraine started her career in national newspapers before becoming Editor of Cosmopolitan, subsequently taking the helm at Elle UK, where she ran a 360-degree editorial team working across both print and digital. Lorraine is renowned in the industry for her digital content innovation and delivering high-end luxury and fashion content to them. Lorraine was presented her award by fellow journalist, India Knight.

Also honored were Sam and Nic Chapman, the makeup artists and artistic consultants to Real Techniques, and the authors and executive producers behind the popular YouTube channel Pixiwoo, which has more than two million subscribers across the world. Sam and Nic accepted their award from Dominic Smales, CEO and Founder of Gleam Futures.

Nicola Kilner, co-CEO at Deciem, is known for seeking out “what’s next,” which has allowed her to put a unique stamp on Deciem’s innovation. Most often found in the lab crafting alongside a team of biochemists or meeting with retailers around the world, Nicola is immersed in every aspect of the Deciem story. Deciem Founder Brandon Truaxe presented Nicola with her award.

Demetra Pinsent, CEO of Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, oversees the brand that was founded by the world-renown makeup artist. Demetra has been working with Charlotte since the business’s inception six years ago. Now trading in the UK, Ireland, the United States, Canada, the Middle East and with global online distribution, the business has achieved record growth. In addition, Demetra serves as a non-executive director of Belmond Ltd and is a Trustee of The Royal Foundation. CEW UK President Caroline Neville presented Demetra with this award.

The Lifetime Achiever Award Honoree was Laura Mercier, theworld-renowned makeup artist and creator of Laura Mercier Cosmetics, Skincare, Body & Bath and Fragrance. As the personal makeup artist to celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Julia Roberts and Juliette Binoche, Laura received her award from Cecile Budge, Country General Manager, UK & Ireland, Shiseido Group.

The CEW Special Industry Award was presented to celebrated session hair stylist, Sam McKnight. Sam boasts a legendary career spanning over four decades on catwalks, editorial and advertising campaigns for fashion houses such as Chanel, Fendi, Balmain, Burberry and Tom Ford. As a recently appointed beauty contributor for the new British Vogue, Sam also has more than 100 covers to his name from Vogue alone. Fashion and creative consultant Amanda Harlech presented Sam with his Special Industry Award.

The 25th Anniversary Award honored Philip Kingsley, posthumously.Heralded as the ‘Hair Doctor’ by the international press, Philip was known worldwide as the leading authority on hair and scalp care. Starting his career at the dawn of the swinging Sixties, Philip opened his first independent clinic in London’s fashionable Mayfair. At his specialist clinics in London and New York, Philip consulted to some of the world’s most influential people. Well into his eighties, Philip worked tirelessly to revolutionize the hair care market. Anabel Kingsley accepted the award on behalf of her father and was presented the accolade by Alison Young, Resident Expert Beauty Presenter, QVC UK.

The Digital Achiever Award sponsored by Google was presented to Hannah Putjato, Founder of London Lash Pro.Hannah founded London Lash three and a half years ago. Her first year in business was hugely challenging, as many are, but thanks to her how-to videos on social media her popularity grew and soon she was invited to judge her first international lash competition. Today, Hannah has judged more than 100 competitions all over the world and online, and has spoken at more than 50 international lash conferences, discussing various topics from innovative lashing techniques, to how to build a successful Instagram profile. Jacqui Owens, Head of Beauty UK, Google, presented Hannah with her award.

The CEW Member’s Achiever Award acknowledges a rising star in the beauty industry, and is chosen by fellow CEW members. This year, the award was given to Rebecca Cullen, Beauty Brand and Education Manager at Marks and Spencer. Fashion and makeup expert Trinny Woodall presented Rebecca with her award. Finalists in the category included: Caroline Mapletoft, Senior Digital Executive, Coty; Margaret Mitchell, Buying Director, Space NK; and Nicola Sutton, Head of Marketing, Pai Skincare.
