As consumers’ awareness of environmental issues continues to grow, they’re increasingly becoming willing to shift their purchasing decisions toward companies that give back, especially when it comes to beauty. A recent survey conducted by Nielsen on corporate social responsibility revealed that 55% of consumers around the globe would pay more for products from companies that are committed to positive social and environmental impacts. Eco-friendly companies can gain consumers’ trust by entering for a chance to win CEW’s Eco Beauty Award.

Presented by Givaudan, the award recognizes a brand—as opposed to an individual product—that has demonstrated best practices and progress towards the goal of sustainability within the beauty industry. Winning the award is the best way for environmentally savvy brands to gain credibility for their green efforts with the eco-conscious beauty consumer, and build a positive reputation for their business.

“This is Givaudan’s fifth year as a sponsor of this award which was created to recognize exemplary commitment and achievement toward sustainability goals,” said Felix Mayr-Harting, Global Head of Fine Fragrance. “Even more important than the award itself, we hope this recognition will encourage others to consider sustainable practices a priority in their own business plans.”

This year, the entry deadline has been extended to November 5 to give brands enough time to enter for a chance to gain the recognition they deserve. To be eligible, entries must be able to show specific measurable step changes implemented over the past three years toward becoming a more sustainable and socially conscious brand.

Finalists will be vetted by The Natural Step, a non-profit global environmental education organization. The judging will be based on four science-based sustainability principles promoted by The Natural Step, and their integration through the entire life cycle of a product.
