The Fast Beauty trend continues to emerge with the opening of MB45, a new blowout, manicure and makeup salon specializing in simultaneous beauty services.

Founded by Fernanda Lacerda and Manuela Giannini, the new space is located at 93 Worth Street in Tribeca and was inspired by the “backstage beauty experience,” delivering time-starved women chic hair and nails in 45 minutes for just $65. The concept, while so obvious, had not been acted on before.

Fernanda, the Operations Director, and Manuela, the Creative Director, said they see women from all walks of life enter their space, which is designed to reflect New York street style, with murals, hand painted art, subway tiles, cement floors and exposed pipes. Open for about a month, women tend to flock to MB45 beginning at 8 a.m.—even on the weekend—with another rush at 3 p.m. and then again at 5:30 p.m, said Fernanda. Products used at the salon include nail polish by Morgan Taylor and hair care by R&C. While originally only planning to do hair and nails, makeup was added, with all three services guaranteed to be complete in 75 minutes, for $90.

The duo is planning another location in midtown in about 12 months, and then is looking to franchise the MB45 concept outside New York.

“We will take a deep breath to have a complete understanding of the business before we do that,” said Manuela, who is an interior designer and is responsible for the salon’s raw, edgy look. “It is purposely unfinished. The art work is by a Brazilian friend who worked on a project where she took a self-portrait and every day for a year painted on top of it, what inspired her feeling or mood that day.”

Currently MB45 is relying on its tight network of loyal beauty enthusiasts to grow a fan base, as well as the pampered mommy set found in Tribeca and the working gal employed in the Financial District. New York Fashion Week also helped build business, propelled by a faction of enthusiastic Brazilian fashion bloggers visiting Carolina Herrera’s new Madison Avenue shop. Loyal clients of Maria Bonita, the pair’s first salon located in SoHo, is also driving business.
