Beauty industry executives are constantly on the quest for data and trends to help them meet their goals for the year ahead. Enter Mintel, who on February 5 will reveal what will impact 2019 with a presentation that outlines key trends, consumer behavior patterns and socioeconomic characteristics at CEW’s State of the Beauty Industry Report 2018/2019 event, which highlights 2018 beauty accomplishments and forecasts upcoming shifts and big trends. This event has recently secured a limited number of seats for non-CEW members. Mintel will share the most important things to know under each pillar that will shape the Beauty industry, including Sub Zero Waste, Beauty with a Brain and You 2.0. The event will also feature NPD’s Hot off the Press 2018 Beauty Industry Year in Review, as well as beauty industry data by Nielsen, and results from a proprietary report on Ingredients by Google.

Here, some of the data Mintel will reveal:

Sub-Zero Waste
In 2019, brands will need to recognize that investing in zero waste is the profitable solution for any business in the long term: this is a movement, not a trend. In turn, companies/brands need to be environmentally-friendly, responsible and transparent, and armed with long-termstrategies that consider every element of the supply chain.

Beauty with a Brain

Brands will need to prove that they can be trusted, while also empowering consumers with knowledge to assist them along their purchase journey. Influencer fatigue will increase, giving rise to genuine experts who will shape the new face of influencers. The industry will see a rise in new beauty terms, such as mechanoceuticals and vibroacousticsas technology gets emotional. Consumers will be seeking new stress-relief solutions, sparking new ingredient trends to help deliver calming and relaxing benefits.

You 2.0

By 2030, single households will become the mainstream and attitudes will not be about lonely solitude. Subsequently, brands will need to learn how and what to sell to the modern single consumer.Beauty will become a means of self-satisfaction. Brands must be able to play across the entire connection spectrum – to facilitate consumers to both connect and disconnect.
