Earlier this year, global reuse platform, Loop, announced its partnership with Ulta Beauty, whereby the two will aim to reduce beauty waste. The program looks to have beauty manufacturers commit to designing new products that meet Loop and Ulta Beauty’s Advisory Council guidelines. Ingredients will be as clean as packaging, which will be refillable and reusable.

“The dream is that years from now there would be thousands and thousands of products on offer,” said Tom Szaky, CEO of TerraCycle & Loop.

Beauty guests can shop participating brands by visiting loopbyulta.com, including sustainable packaging options from Burt’s Bees, Plaine Products and Mad Hippie, among others. Shoppers pay a deposit on each package, which is fully refundable upon return. After use, consumers simply place empty packages into an exclusively designed tote and schedule a free pickup online.

Laura Beres, Senior Director at Ulta Beauty, said the partnership will help Ulta reach its 2025 sustainability goals.
