The annual fundraising event in support of Cancer and Careers, QVC and CEW Present Beauty with Benefits, will broadcast live Thursday night, April 26, on QVC from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (ET), and from 9 p.m.to 10 p.m. (ET) on Beauty iQ. A total of 35 brands will be featured on air and online this year. Ten names in the line-up are newcomers to the promotion.
“There’s been an outpouring of beauty companies inspired to participate—a collection of brands that have their generosity in common,” said Rebecca Nellis, Executive Director of Cancer and Careers. “Each product donation is an investment in thethousands of survivors we serve—their career paths and plans for success.” The event will feature color cosmetics, fragrance, skin, body and hair care from leading brands such as MAC, Clarins, Dior, Buxom, Dr. Dennis Gross, Laura Geller New York, Skinfix and more.
“The brands are truly the star of Beauty with Benefits,” said Jennifer Morell, QVC Cause Marketing Senior Associate who manages the initiative. “We let the products do the talking. And the best part is 80 percent of the purchase price* will help provide workplace support for survivors right away—while helping Cancer and Careers, and their free services, become more of a household name for people in the future.”
To thank QVC customers for their support, the event includes a gift with purchase, which features nine products this year, and has a minimum retail value of $151**—the highest to-date. The cosmetic case, created by MaCher, has a “Brave is Beautiful” message to celebrate the everyday strength of survivors, and of all women who live boldly.
Beauty with Benefits takes place one night each spring, but QVC, CEW and Cancer and Careers spend nearly a year building momentum to grow its scope and its impact. “We start working with brands, brainstorming content and planning our marketing efforts beginning in the summer,” said Rebecca. QVC’s social promotions alone span nearly 90 platforms, including for the first time, a Facebook Live Red Carpet event the night of the broadcast. Guests representing some of this year’s participating brands will be interviewed.
When asked about the event’s annual success, Rebecca pointed to synergy and teamwork. “Beauty with Benefits has raised $6 million since it launched in 2013. You don’t reach those types of numbers without the commitment of a beloved super-brand like QVC, combined with the power of the beauty industry, the attention of influencers and the engagement of customers who feel motivated to make a difference. It’s an unstoppable combination.”
