Scentbird, the subscription service for perfumes and colognes, has announced that they have raised an additional $2.8 million in seed funding, bringing their total to $3.8 million. The company plans to use the funds to expand its leadership and operations team and ramp up its marketing efforts.

Born out of frustration with expensive bottles of designer fragrances that traditionally collect dust on a dresser or cabinet, Scentbird enables consumers to try the perfumes they intend to buy prior to purchase and build their own sample boxes based on their preferences.

In addition to the funding news, Scentbird is launching a new offering on their site, A La Carte purchasing. With Scentbird A La Carte, customers are able to purchase individual 8ml/0.27-oz cartridges of perfume and cologne without a monthly subscription for immediate shipping, as an alternative to becoming a monthly subscriber.
