Shannon Curtin has been appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer New World Natural Brands, a holding company with a portfolio of natural micro brands and niche companies in the beauty and personal care segment. Among the company’s brands are nügg Beauty, which delivers skin treatments in pocket-friendly packaging, and Baebody, a beauty and skin care line.
“Shannon’s vast beauty experience, which combines both retail and consumer goods, makes her especially well positioned to deliver our growth objectives,” said Tom Ryan, VP of Business Development, New World Natural Brands. “Shannon’s collaborative leadership style, industry expertise and personal passion for the natural category will ensure our brand portfolio continues to meet consumers’ evolving needs.”
New World Natural Brands was established in 2018 to help entrepreneurial companies focused on natural, chemical-free and cruelty-free beauty gain access to business opportunities and sales channels in order to achieve greater sustainable and scalable growth. Shannon noted, “We are committed to advancing sustainable business and innovation practices that will provide ongoing goodwill for humanity and Mother Earth. It is an honor to lead the talented NWNB team as we embark on our global ambitions.”
Shannon, who serves on CEW’s Board and has been a 2015 CEW Achiever Award Recipient, has had a career in beauty spanning more than 25 years. Her passion for beauty started while working at the fragrance counter at her local Dillard’s when she was in high school. After college she worked for Walmart Corporate for nine and a half years, starting out as a buyer assistant and rising through the ranks. In 2009, Shannon moved to Chicago as the GVP/GMM of Beauty & Personal Care for Walgreens, where she led the strategic vision for the division and its multibillion-dollar P&L for six years. She then joined Coty’s consumer division as SVP/GM of North America, overseeing the mass fragrance portfolio, as well as integrating and relaunching the iconic beauty brands of COVERGIRL, Sally Hansen, Rimmel and Clairol across 60,000 retail doors throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Shannon most recently launched her own consulting and creative practice in Hoboken, NJ., The Beauty Boutique Group, specializing in the strategic development of independent beauty and personal care brands.
Her new role is effective as of July 17, 2019.
