Earlier this month, the luxury retailer announced it would be offering high-end CBD brands online and in select stores as part of its Trending Beauty section. Here, CEW Beauty Insider dives deep into the brands that made the cut.

Neiman Marcus is riding the CBD wave. This month, the high-end retailer introduced a range of cannabidiol beauty products online and in five bricks-and-mortar stores, a testament to the ingredient’s growing might.

“Cannabis beauty brands are becoming increasingly popular and we feel this trend is not losing steam. They are an important part of the health and wellbeing of our customers,” said Kim D’Angelo, Beauty Buyer at Neiman Marcus.

The luxury retailer engaged its Beauty Task Force to select the right mix of CBD brands.

“This Beauty Task Force is comprised of 20 millennial-aged assistant buyers, merchandise planners, and coordinators from the Beauty Merchant Division tasked with the challenge of discovering credible brands within that particular beauty realm. The team sources, vets, and establishes these brands as Neiman Marcus vendors, looking largely to social media for newness,” Kim said.

So far, the initial response to the ranges has been very positive. “We have had requests from customers for CBD additions in multiple markets across the country.” Here, Beauty Insider takes a look at Neiman Marcus’ newly launched selection of CBD brands comprising balms, lotions, soaps, oils, serums, and masks.

Cannuka

Cannuka combines the healing properties of cannabis and manuka honey, hence the brand name that fuses the two hero ingredients. Cannuka’s founder, Michael Bumgarner, grew up on a farm in rural Ohio, and has long championed the legalization of industrial hemp cultivation. Together with his wife Kelly, who has expertise in dermatology, they founded the brand based on CBD’s anti-inflammatory and pain-reducing properties. Cannuka uses a CBD isolate, a pure crystalline powder that contains 99.7 percent pure Cannabidiol. CBD isolate is produced using a more detailed extraction process, whereby all the impurities, such as oils, plant materials, waxes and chlorophyll, are removed and only the pure CBD remains. The brand combines CBD with (non-psychoactive) hemp seed oil, and manuka honey, also known as ‘liquid gold’ and sourced from New Zealand. Manuka honey is one of the most beneficial forms of honey, containing a naturally occurring enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide, with powerful healing and anti-bacterial benefits. Cannuka’s flagship product is the CBD Healing Skin Balm which reduces blemishes and calms inflammation. In addition to 50mg of CBD isolate, the product includes manuka honey (Active 16+), assuring authenticity and purity.

Vertly
Vertly is positioned as CBD-infused clean skin care. The brand was founded by a husband and wife team, Zander Gladish and Claudia Mata, a yogi-turned-real estate executive, and a former fashion magazine editor, respectively. Vertly harnesses the natural healing properties of full spectrum CBD and Northern Californian herbs to create natural skin care that soothes and nourishes the body. Claudia attended Oaksterdam University, America’s first cannabis college in Oakland, CA that offers comprehensive training for the cannabis community and industry. In addition to organically grown, hemp-derived, full-spectrum phytocannabinoids, Vertly’s products include an array of nourishing plant butters and slow-infused herbal oils, selected for their therapeutic benefits for mind and body. The brand’s Hemp CBD Infused Relief Lotion contains 150mg of full spectrum hemp cannabinoid extract (in a two-ounce bottle) which serves as a concentrated spot treatment for pain, together with eight therapeutic essential oils, nourishing shea butter, healing magnesium, and botanical herbs like arnica flower. Vertly’s Hemp CBD Infused Lip Balm contains 25mg of full spectrum hemp cannabinoid extract together with three moisturizing nut butters.

Cannabliss
Founded by husband and wife duo, Melissa and Nick Christensen, Cannabliss hopes to remove the stigma of cannabis, and encourage all to incorporate CBD into their daily routine. The brand’s skin care products are made with a high concentration of full spectrum hemp oil blended with ancient Korean herbs that help the body absorb CBD better. The organic full spectrum hemp oil, grown organically in Colorado, has a CBD concentration of 87 percent (the brand states that most other hemp oils only have a 30 percent concentration), that aids dry skin, acne, wrinkles, scars, sunspots, eczema, and psoriasis. Cannabliss infuses its formulas with herbs such as mulberry bark and Panax gingseng that enhance the effectiveness of its products. Cannabliss’s Revitalizing Face Serum combines CBD and a blend of anti-aging herbal ingredients to hydrate and firm the skin, and promote cell regeneration. Cannabliss is organic, cruelty-free, paraben-free, non-GMO and eco-friendly.

Code of Harmony

The brand uses a highly purified form of non-psychoactive CBD isolate from hemp grown in Kentucky. Code of Harmony features clean fillers with no added fillers, petrochemicals, silicones, harsh cleansers, parabens, or synthetic emulsifiers.
