Beauty Insider tapped nail experts Essie Weingarten and Jin Soon to get the latest on fall 2012 nail trends. The verdict? Stay tuned for nude nails, pumped-up formulas and a nail line from none other than Oscar de la Renta.

Neutral land: Essie Weingarten forecasts nude shades to be big for fall. Until then, Essie said to stick to bright pops of color, such as greens and oranges for the spring season.

Sally Hansen foiled: Jin Soon, owner of the Jin Soon Hand & Nail Spa, said foil-like shades from Sally Hansen contain a new formula that contains real silver (to add a glow); pigments from the Far East (for intense, luminous and vibrant iridescence); and pearl and shimmer. While there’s no official name yet for the new collection, Sally Hansen’s foil shades will launch in drugstores in fall 2012.

Oscar debuts nail, lip line: The scene backstage at Oscar de la Renta’s fall 2012 show seemed to perfectly match the calming shade of pale blue being used on the models’ nails. The shade, called Essential Larimar, is just one of six new nail and lip shades the designer plans to launch exclusively at oscardelarenta.com and to his boutiques nationwide. It will be his first foray into cosmetics.

Tool time: Creative Nail Design’s lead manicurist Wanda Ruiz often works with a slim toothpick-like stick to create colorful swirls (pictured above), where she chose CND shades in Plumville, Electric Orange, Bicycle Yellow and Anchor Blue to make “lollipop swirls.”
