Supergoop! is taking to the streets of Manhattan to spread the word about the benefits and importance of wearing sunscreen every day with a stand-alone pop-up filled with Supergoop! product, sun stats and an Instagram wall, all designed in a classroom setting to welcome the masses. May is Skin Cancer Awareness month; the P.S. SUN101 Pop-Up, located on 89 Crosby Street, is open Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5.

Guests can expect educational activations, including a Wellness panel moderated by Supergoop!’s President, Amanda Baldwin, featuring Care/Of Co-Founder & CEO, Craig Elbert; Heyday CEO, Adam Ross; and Daily Harvest Founder & CEO, Rachel Drori. There will also be a SUN 101 & Mythbusting Classroom Session hosted by Supergoop!’s CEO and Founder, Holly Thaggard. Supergoop!’s best-selling products and a limited-edition “Wear Sunscreen” T-shirt will be available for sale at the pop-up’s Merch Shop.

To further support the brand’s commitment to education and prevention, Supergoop! is donating 25% of every purchase at the pop-up and on the company’s website from May 1 to May 6 to fund the brand’s Ounce by Ounce Program, which teaches kids the importance of daily SPF use to inspire them to adopt healthy sunscreen habits at an early age.

The idea for a classroom themed-pop up came from Holly’s former life as a third-grade teacher, as well as from one-on-ones with influencers, who were asking for sun facts to provide to their followers.

“I learned that there are so many misunderstandings about SPF and there’s a hunger for more knowledge. I couldn’t get the information out fast enough over our usual method of hosting intimate dinners with influencers so I thought now is the time to have a pop-up experience and share our knowledge, debunk myths and how share how Supergoop! is innovating in the category,” said Holly.

Supergoop! offers everything from daily moisturizers with SPF 40 (Superscreen Daily Moisturizer) to an Acai Fusion Lipbalm SPF 30 to a Poof Part Powder SPF 45 (for bald spots and parts in the hair) to Shimmershades SPF 30, the first eyeshadow with SPF. Mineral sunscreens are also on offer in translucent formulas.

“Everyone has a different skin tone and type, as well as a different type of activity level. Chemical formulas are great for athletes because they absorb into your skin and allow pores to sweat out the toxins. They also allow us to create beautiful formulas, like our Sun Defying Sunscreen Oil with Meadowfoam SPF 50, something we wouldn’t be able to create with a mineral formula. Also, by creating different formulas, like our mineral items, we are able to meet all the needs of people, and we are more likely to get them to wear SPF on a daily basis, which is our goal.”
