Target Canada is readying for expansion. Beginning this month, the mass-market retailer will roll out an estimated 124 newly revamped stores throughout 2013, complete with updated beauty sections. Most of the stores are a result of the 189 Zellers leases Target purchased in 2011. In addition to these locations, Target has also confirmed it will be bringing stores to Morrison Street in Niagara Falls, Ontario and Laval Central in Laval, Quebec. The stores’ debut will begin in Toronto, with 20 new units opening in March. Expansion will head west, then return east to Quebec by the end of the year.

While much of Target’s beauty plans remain under wraps, one detail within the beauty section of stores comes from Pixi Beauty, which will serve as the sole brand to feature testers in the new Target Canada stores, according to Pixi Beauty President and Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Knox.

“The Canadian consumer expects testers in their beauty shopping experience,” Andrew said of Canadian beauty retailing.

The brand, perhaps best known for its Flawless & Poreless Primer, will claim seven feet of retail space in Target Canada, up from the four linear feet it has in the U.S., thanks to a new three-foot endcap. The expansion will bring the number of Pixi items sold in Target Canada to over 145.

In addition to Pixi and the leading national beauty brands, Target Canada will also sell Sonia Kashuk products, and popular Canadian brands Annabelle and Marcelle. Canadian brand Cake Beauty has also designed a line exclusively for Target, Be Delectable, a collection of bath and body products designed and developed by Cake Beauty Creator, Heather Reier.

In other Target news, Jemma Kidd’s beauty line at Target, JK Jemma Kidd, was phased out of stores in November.
