Unilever is launching its first salon-inspired hair and body collection in more than 20 years.

ApotheCARE Essentials will feature 17 premium hair cleansing, styling and body care products to be sold in the salon aisle of CVS beginning this month with added, selective distribution at local drugstores, Amazon and Birchbox beginning in January. The line, which will retail between $10.99 and $12.99, was conceptualized by a dedicated team at Unilever, including Teddi Cranford, Lead Stylist; Piyush Jain, General Manger, VP of Haircare and Founding Member; and Matt Seal, Biochemist and Founding Member, Haircare R&D.

Items in the collection are formulated to follow a three-step approach using natural ingredients known for their hair and skin benefits. Formulas use a phyto-extraction technique to extract the core essences of six plants, each recognized for a particular function, including: burdock, known for detox;white willow, for soothing;rosemary, to refresh;ginkgo biloba, for balance;sage, to purify; and sea buckthorn for revitalizing.

The hair collection targets several hair needs, such as Volume, which delivers a shampoo and conditioner, and a dry shampoo; Repair, which offers a shampoo and conditioner, and a repair oil; Hydrate, which has a shampoo and conditioner, and an intense cleansing conditioner; and Color Shine, which has a shampoo and conditioner, and a mask.

The skin care collection uses the same natural ingredients and phyto-extraction technique as the hair care collection. Products include body washes to moisturize, soothe and rejuvenate; and a shower oil.
