Singer and fierce fashion fixture, Victoria Beckham, has announced she’ll be launching a new skin care line. No stranger to the beauty realm, Victoria has already had two successful Estée Lauder makeup capsule collections; a line with UK-based nail lacquer line, Nails Inc.; and multiple fragrances, the first of which launched in 2006 in collaboration with her husband, David. Having completed the beauty category trifecta, taking on skin care should have been expected. She announced the endeavor via Facebook Live earlier this month, noting she’s taking the process of designing the products seriously so as to learn how formulas can be beneficial to consumers.

“I am currently in the process of creating my own color, my own line of skin-care creams, and a perfume,” Beckham said in a Facebook Live session.”As a woman, I want to make the things that I need in my life, the things that are missing.”

Victoria wasn’t clear on whether she’ll have a partner on the line, i.e. Estée Lauder, but did mention that her new range will be science based.

“I’m working with the best,” she said. “I really want to learn. I want to educate myself and learn as much as I can.”

Besides having enviable skin, Victoria appeals to large sections of the market, and will no doubt resonate with consumers. Though she’s a member of Generation X, she bridges the gap between Gen X and Millennials thanks to her modern aesthetic and digital prowess — her announcement of this new endeavor via Facebook Live on International Women’s Day is proof of her savvy. Past collaborations range from mass to prestige; she created a fashion capsule collection for Target last year, which was successful.

Lastly, if her sold-out Estée Lauder product, Morning Aura Illuminating Cream is any indication of her proprietary skin care line’s success, the outcome looks good.
