In December 2020, Walmart partnered with TikTok to pioneer innovation on the fast-growing digital community. To that end, the superstore brought a shoppable live stream experience to U.S. TikTok users. The partnership yielded a positive shopping experience for the TikTok community—who engaged with their favorite creators on the app—while Walmart netted seven times more views than anticipated—and grew TikTok followers by 25 percent.
“We will continue to bring more shopping experiences to TikTok in the coming months by partnering with creators to highlight different products via different formats,” said William White, Chief Marketing Officer at Walmart. “We are excited to test, learn and iterate on what’s best for users as we innovate and chart new territory in social commerce,” he added.
Thanks to overwhelming demand and positive response, Walmart is hosting another live stream shopping event on Thursday, March 11, at 9 p.m. EST. The Spring Shop-Along: Beauty Edition will be hosted on Walmart’s TikTok channel where they will give the TikTok community a chance to shop live for items featured in creator content directly in the app, without having to leave the platform.
The Spring Shop-Along: Beauty Edition live stream shopping event will be an all-new experience featuring new creators and shoppable items. One of those creators is Gabby Morrison (@GabbyMorr), a TikToker who has more than 3.5 million followers. The featured creators will reveal their favorite Walmart beauty picks and demo their skin care, makeup and hair routines using the items. During the hour-long interactive tutorial, consumers can shop from a vast assortment of national, private and Black-owned beauty brands, such as Maybelline, The Lip Bar, Bliss and Kim Kimble. Consumers will also get beauty tips, as well as tutorials on the hot trends.
Beyond entertainment and education, consumers will also find a seamless shopping experience. With the tap on any product pin, they can add items to their carts where they can check out during or after the event.
