Amazon may not yet have a reputation as the go-to retailer for prestige beauty offerings, but the e-tail giant is looking to become a major competitor in the space as it expands its mix, reportedly inking a deal with online retailer, Violet Grey. Launched by Cassandra Grey, Violet Grey operates a beautiful ecommerce site with many of the most exclusive brands in the world. Naturally, as with all new models, there were key learnings along the journey to success. Cassandra will discuss them, and more, at CEW’s upcoming event, Top Innovative Retailers, slated for Wednesday, January 31, at the Harmonie Club in Midtown Manhattan. At the event, she will also share the latest on Violet Grey’s reported partnership with Amazon, and how that might change luxe beauty’s relationship with the digital behemoth.

Casandra will be joined by Nata Dvir, General Business Manager, Beauty & Fragrance, Macy’s Inc., who will discuss how Macy’s is getting its mojo back in beauty, and why the industry should believe in the long-term viability of the department store model. She will also talk about how Macy’s is shifting its approach to better align with the shopping habits of consumers today, and how Bluemercury fits into the strategic picture.

Rounding out the panel of unique retailer points of view is STORY Founder & CEO, Rachel Shechtman, who recently partnered with Coty to offer a social media-driven beauty playhouse for consumers within its 2,000-square-foot space in West Chelsea. Rachel will share the genesis for her creative retail concept and how she brings each brand partnership to life.
