Betsy Schumacher is a retail veteran with over 30 years of experience in merchandising and brand- building. She joined Bath and Body Works in 2018 as executive vice president, merchandising for body care. She quickly made an impact by leading the body care team to a return to growth through a number of successful single fragrance launches including customer favorite “Into the Night” and the Brand defining “Gingham.” In April 2021, Schumacher was named EVP chief merchandising officer, leading the organization’s total product strategy, development, and execution. She has since assumed responsibility for digital merchandising, store design, and new business opportunities.

Prior to joining Bath & Body Works, Schumacher served as executive vice president/general manager of Gymboree, and general merchandise manager, children’s, at JC Penney, Inc. Prior, Schumacher spent time at American Eagle Outfitters, with responsibility of development and original strategic plan for the brand aerie by American Eagle, where she was chief merchandising officer. Schumacher has also held executive positions at Gap Inc., Eddie Bauer, and Abercrombie & Fitch.

Schumacher has received recognition as a 2016 San Francisco Business Times “Influential Woman in Business”.
Schumacher is a graduate of the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana – Champaign. She currently serves on the board of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. She lives with her husband Charles in New Albany, Ohio, where they are parents of college aged triplets.
