Nancy Twine is a beauty-industry pioneer. She helped usher in the “skinification” of hair care with the launch of Briogeo in 2013, and then became the youngest Black woman to introduce a product line at Sephora. When she sold Briogeo to Wella in 2022, a whole new role for her began. Here, Twine, the Keynote speaker for CEW’s 2024 Visionary Awards, reveals what she’s been up to since the acquisition (hint: a lot) — as well as why she believes a trailblazer must pave a path for others.

Holly Thaggard, AKA The Sunscreen Queen, is Founder and Chairman of Supergoop!, one of the most successful, game-changing beauty companies to revolutionize sun care. After more than a decade of educating consumers on the importance of SPF daily and creating innovative products that people actually want to wear, Supergoop! made headlines in 2021 when it sold a majority stake to private equity firm Blackstone, valuing the company at between $600 million and $700 million. (Sales had reached $250 million — up 65 percent from 2021.) An avid CEW superfan and supporter, Thaggard was a natural to keynote this year’s Achiever Awards luncheon. Learn how the born rule-breaker became an extraordinary entrepreneur.
