History
Founded in 2001 by Carlotta Jacobson and the CEW board after they identified a gap in survivorship care—the lack of information and support around how to continue working after a cancer diagnosis. CAC remains the only U.S. nonprofit solely focused on the intersection of health and employment. But its reach is global.
What we Do
In 2025, CAC provided expert guidance, interactive tools, and educational programs to more than 600,000 people online, in print, and in person, including cancer survivors, healthcare professionals, and employers.
CAC’s work helps individuals navigate the practical and emotional challenges of staying in or returning to the workforce, while also equipping companies to build supportive, recovery-forward workplaces.
Through resources, trainings, panels, policy guidance, and research, CAC empowers both people and organizations to address cancer in the workplace with compassion, expertise, and actionable solutions, ensuring that no one has to choose between their work and their recovery.
