In her latest Mother Of Wisdom column for CEW, Lauren Brody suggests we flip the script on working parenthood. “For years, as a researcher and consultant on workplace gender equality, I have implored moms and dads to bring their parenthood to work – at least those who have the privilege to do so,” she writes. “By making their caregiving needs visible in their day jobs, they’re helping us all be more inclusive.” Brody, who partnered with child care company Vivvi in studying hundreds of parents over the past year, advocates for bringing our work selves home, too. “Don’t be afraid to let some work creep into your home life. It’s okay for kids to see what we do, why we do it, how sometimes it’s hard (and we do it anyway).”

In breaking news, Neutrogena has announced the permanent closure of its Los Angeles office, resulting in a reported 84 job losses. The brand’s parent company, Kenvue Inc., is relocating its headquarters to New Jersey. Meanwhile, Jessica Alba is stepping down from The Honest Co., the clean skin care brand she founded in 2011, to focus on other ventures. Alba will remain on the board of directors.

In tech, KIKI World, the pioneering, community-led beauty brand backed by The Estée Lauder Companies’ New Incubation Ventures (NIV), has announced a $7 million funding round. KIKI made its debut in 2023, with its community taking part in the creation of each product by voting via its platform, and earning rewards for engagement. “Consumers are at the heart of what we do,” said Shana Randhava, Senior Vice President, NIV, The Estée Lauder Companies. “That’s why we’re excited by the KIKI team’s vision of finding new ways to put the customer first.” Meanwhile, L’Occitane has halted the trading of its shares in advance of a potential buyout announcement.

At Sephora, The Inkey List’s first body products are due to be unveiled this month. “There’s a lot you can get away with as a younger brand, but now we’re demonstrably showing organic growth,” said co-founder Mark Curry. “The key thing about brand awareness is about being famous for your heroes and not just for launching new products, so we’ve been very focused on face. But body care is swelling.” The exfoliating body cream and an exfoliating body stick drop on the Sephora app on April 16, and will be available at the retailer’s website and stores from three days later.
