According to Daash Intelligence, the AI-powered predictive commerce platform which gives weekly insights into beauty industry sales, makeup remains at the top spot in driving beauty sales, and accounts for 44% of the market. According to the platform, prestige beauty has seen an overall downward trend of 6% year-over-year, while fragrance has seen 8% growth. 

In breaking news, Unilever has shared ‘resilient’ Q1 figures, with Dove sales rising by 8%. The company’s new CEO Fernando Fernandez said the results are in alignment with its plans to turn Unilever into a ‘consistently higher-performing business,’ according to The Grocer. Meanwhile, Amazon revealed that skin care remains in the beauty top spot in Q1 2025. 

In China, the Cathay Consumer Co-Creation Fund, an investment project co-founded by L’Oréal, Kerying, Cathay Capital, and Pernod Ricard, has invested in First Cover, a foundation brand renowned for its bestselling “shapewear” makeup base, the Cozy Lifting Foundation. And in hair care headlines, Cécred has announced a nationwide pop-up tour to coincide with the U.S. stadium stops of founder Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour this year.
