At CEW today, we turn the spotlight on Walmart Realm, the new i-commerce site designed to appeal to both Gen Z and Gen Alpha beauty shoppers. “Walmart’s immersive virtual commerce space is a somewhat gamified metaverse experience that places the shopper decidedly outside of both a brick-and-mortar store and a traditional cart-only online shopping world,” writes CEW reporter Kate Sullivan, who spoke to Justin Breton, Walmart’s Head of Brand Marketing Innovation, for our report. “A partnership with Pinterest helped to shape what cutting-edge trends might appear, and the company selected social media creator partners based on the trends they embody and the style of their content.”

After breaking the news yesterday that she is launching her hair care range, Blake Lively has now unveiled the full line-up of products in the Blake Brown collection. “7 years in the making, and now my secret is yours,” posted Lively. Available at Target from August 4 and the Blake Brown website on August 5, products include shampoos (including a dry formula), masks, and a styling mousse.

In makeup news, celebrity makeup artist Quinn Murphy has launched her own cosmetics line, Spatch, available exclusively at the brand’s website. “I was driven by the need for a product that would ensure my clients looked flawless yet natural during photo shoots and red-carpet events after leaving my makeup chair,” said Murphy, who counts Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Sofia Vergara, and Kristen Stewart among those she has worked with.

British beauty journalist Sonia Haria is making headlines on both sides of the pond with the launch of her first book, South Asian Beauty. “I want this book to be a real celebration of the beautiful beauty culture that is so rich in South Asia – a beauty that deserves to be highlighted and celebrated,” said Haria.

In executive news, WWD has reported on the beauty industry’s highest-paid CEOs for 2023, based on company regulatory findings. The frontrunners are Coty’s Sue Nabi and Fabrizio Freda of The Estée Lauder Companies.
