At CEW today, we report on the news that celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak has closed the first round of seed funding for her product range, RŌZ. “Roszak, whose celebrity clients include Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, and Kristen Wiig, closed on an oversubscribed round led by investment partner Silas Capital with participation from G9 Ventures,” writes CEW reporter Faye Brookman. “Lily Collins also signed on to invest in the brand.” According to Brian Thorne, Partner at Silas Capital, “We believe this expert-led brand uniquely addresses a clear whitespace in the market. Mara has rapidly built one of the most sought-after brands in the hair care category.”
In makeup news, Dolly Parton is expanding her beauty empire into cosmetics, following the launch of her fragrance in 2021. The Dolly Beauty’s Heaven’s Kiss lipstick collection of four lipstick includes Jolene Red, and comes in rhinestone-decorated packaging. “Dolly loves beauty inside and out. We felt it was a natural fit for her to create a cosmetics line that reflected her spirit of imparting beauty to other consumers,” said Steve Mormoris, CEO of Scent Beauty, the licensee behind her fragrance launch.
According to Beauty Matter, new data suggests the “lipstick effect has lost its luster”, based on recent cosmetics sales figures from companies including Unilever, LVMH and L’Oréal. Meanwhile, Covergirl is marking its 63rd birthday and the launch of its updated Clean Invisible Foundation with a digital ad campaign featuring vintage-inspired clips.
