Today, Ulta Beauty and Target Corporation announced that they have mutually agreed not to renew the Ulta Beauty at Target shop-in-shop partnership when the current agreement concludes in August 2026. Until then, the Ulta Beauty at Target experience will continue in Target stores and on Target.com.
In some of the buzziest news hitting the beauty industry this week, Beauty Independent reports that Huda Beauty sales have fallen on Sephora’s website due to the entrepreneur’s recent anti-Israel comments on her TikTok platform, which have seen been removed. Reports Erica Lasala, “According to data from beauty e-commerce agency Navigo Marketing, sales of eight out of 10 of Huda Beauty’s bestsellers slipped online at Sephora during the week of Aug. 3 after Kattan’s posting of the TikTok video on July 27. TikTok reports it took down the video because it violated the social media network’s community guidelines, although Kattan has said she removed it. Sephora has stated it’s reviewing its relationship with Huda Beauty.”
In executive moves news, former L’Occitane President, Alia Sirina Hawa, has been tapped by The Body Shop as the company’s new Chief Commercial & Brand Officer. Hawa comes on board to The Body Shop following the departure of CEO Charles Denton.
According to Business Of Fashion (BoF), beauty brands looking to launch newsletters on Substack are having to learn, quickly, how to create content that embraces the long-form, storytelling genre of the platform. “As writers and readers flock to the newsletter platform Substack, beauty brands are trying to figure out how to meet them there through partnerships or devoted newsletters of their own,” reports BoF.
Supergoop! has been issued with a Warning Letter by the US Food and Drug Administration with reference to its Play SPF 50 Body Mousse label and website claims. “The FDA concluded the mousse makes drug claims,” reports Happi. In other business updates, WWD reports that Anastasia Beverly Hills’ missed loan payment has impacted the company’s credit rating.
