At CEW today, we spotlight the growth of Fig. 1, the indie, derm-developed skin care range founded by Courtney Rubin, MD, and Kimmy Scotti. “I’m half Korean, and Korean culture takes taking care of and protecting the skin seriously,” Rubin told CEW reporter Annie Tomlin. Since its launch with six products in 2021, Fig. 1 now boasts a 21 SKU-strong line-up, and, in 2022,  took supermodel Ashley Graham on board as a spokesperson, partner and investor. “I would love to launch at sister pharmacies around the world; showing up at Boots would be amazing,” revealed Scotti.

In breaking news, Dyson will unveil its first hair care line at 2 p.m. BST today. In an exclusive interview with WWD, James Dyson, the brand’s founder and chairman, shared the story behind the Chitosan styling cream and serum, which are based on a copolymer sourced from oyster mushrooms. Designed to be used with the Dyson Airwrap and other tools, the bottles are cleverly engineered to ‘smart dose’ the highly concentrated formulas, and a new MyDyson app, designed to synch with the hardware, is also launching to accompany the tools and styling products. Asked about future developments, Dyson said, “There will be huge technology improvements and huge ‘sensing’ improvements — things that tell you exactly what’s happening and what you’ve got to do.”
