Today at CEW, Nicola Elliott, founder of British beauty and wellness brand Neom Wellbeing, talks about the company’s U.S. brick and mortar debut in New York City, and its plans for expansion on this side of the pond. “We’ve always looked to the U.S. as wellbeing gurus,” said Elliott, a former beauty journalist, who launched Neom with four aromatherapy candles in 2005. “But we’re all about helping everyone to boost their wellbeing in the small moments. The NYC store opening is a really big moment for us. We’ve had a lot of social noise around it, with content creators visiting, as well as lots of curious new customers.” In our report, Elliott talks transatlantic beauty trends and U.S. bestsellers, while Neom’s Head Of Global Engagement, Mel Green, discusses the company’s global social media strategy. “Our community is our heart and soul,” she commented.
In breaking product news, The Ordinary has launched a body care range. “We have been aware that our community has been using The Ordinary products on their bodies,” says Nicola Kilner, the brand’s CEO and co-founder. “It just made sense to formulate body care products that encourage people to treat their body’s skin the same way they treat their face.” Three products have dropped: a hybrid emulsion, body serum and a moisturising lotion, containing salicylic acid and niacinamide. Meanwhile, Madison Reed has announced the launch of ColorWonder, a Gen Z-targeted hair color line-up, with college basketball star Paige Bueckers as its ambassador, alongside fellow players Azzi Fudd, Ice Brady and Morgan Cheli.
In executive news, The Estée Lauder Companies has tapped Rashida La Lande as its new executive vice president and general counsel. She joins from Kraft Heinz Co.. “Rashida’s impressive experience acting as a key strategic partner to executive leadership teams and boards coupled with her sound judgment advising a publicly traded, values-driven business on legal matters makes her ideally suited for this role,” said William Lauder, Estée Lauder executive chairman. La Lande will begin her new role at Estée Lauder August 19, succeeding general counsel Deirdre Stanley.
Olaplex has reported its sales results for Q2, which were in line with expectations, while its stocks have dropped 18.3%. “Our second quarter performance demonstrated continued stabilization in the business,” said Amanda Baldwin, the brand’s CEO. “I am confident in the direction we are taking the brand and remain incredibly excited about the long-term growth potential for Olaplex.”
