Studio Beauty Acquires Powers PR And Launches Wellness Division, E.l.f Beauty Reports 9% Sales Rise And Sephora Middle East Debut, Shiseido Cuts 300 US Jobs, Bobbi Brown’s Memoir To Tell All, Bath & Body Works Splashes Onto College Campuses

In breaking PR news, Studio Beauty — the agency founded by Bex Meredith and Cindy Krupp — has acquired Powers PR, founded by Lana Powers, marking a new chapter for the female-led collective. As WWD reports, Studio Beauty has counted brands including Hourglass Cosmetics, Dove and Naked Sundays among its clients, while Powers’ portfolio has included wellness companies such as Chelsea Piers, Nutrafol, and Ro. As a result of the acquisition, for an undisclosed amount, Powers PR will become the Powers Wellness Division. Powers is taking on the position of chief growth officer, and working across categories. 

E.l.f Beauty is making headlines this morning, after seeing net sales rise by 9% in Q1, and with the news that it is entering Sephora Middle East. Meanwhile, Shiseido has announced that it will be cutting 300 U.S. 300 jobs, following ongoing losses from Drunk Elephant, its skin care brand, reports Global Cosmetics News.

Bobbi Brown’s memoir, Still Bobbi, documenting her career in beauty and the launch of both the Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and Jones Road brands, is scheduled for publication in September. “It will draw on the MUA’s hard-won practical advice, tips and business savvy expertise, charting the challenges and opportunities in her trailblazing career,” reports Cosmetics Business. The book covers Bobbi founding her namesake brand Bobbi Brown Cosmetics in 1991, to the beauty mogul selling the line to Estée Lauder Companies four years later, which saw her become a multimillionaire at the age of just 38.”

In other top news stories, Chanel is the latest luxury brand to be affected by a cyber security breach, which was detected on July 25 and impacted US customers, specifically, according to Happi. Meanwhile, Bath & Body Works is splashing onto more than 600 college campuses nationwide, as part of a new distribution strategy by the brand, as it aims to connect with a younger demographic.
