At CEW today, Lauren Brody addresses how to deal with others’ opinions about your working motherhood. In her latest The Mother Of Wisdom column for CEW, Brody offers up the “three truths I’ve come to realize that have helped the most, and three ways that you can apply them with grace, diplomacy, and your heart intact.”
Also at CEW, we highlight an article in Medium by Bhushan Dandawate, Financial and Operational Director at Cape Romain Solutions Inc.. on how to discuss politics cordially in the workplace. Dandawate offers five ways to maintain respectful political conversations and avoid heated debates.
In executive news, Nécessaire has appointed Chitra Balireddi as its new CEO, with cofounder Randi Christiansen continuing to focus on the company’s impact and products. Based in New York, Balireddi was previously Glossier’s Chief Commercial Officer, leading its omnichannel and global expansion. “I want us to be innovative, but I want us to be very much anchored in the ethos of what has been the foundation of this brand,” Balireddi said. “And I would say from a category standpoint, there’s still a lot of opportunity for us to go deeper into body.” Meanwhile, the New Jersey Packaging Executives Club (NJPEC) has tapped Christin Cupo as its new President for 2025.
Speaking of female leadership, British psychologist and author Leona Deakin has launched a new podcast for female leaders, LeadHERship Journeys, this month. “As women and girls, we are often told that it is tougher to get to the top as a female, so what can we learn from those who have already made it?” explained Deakin. “This is a podcast for ambitious women who wish to accelerate their success, realize their dreams or change the world. I have learned so much from such women during my career as a leadership psychologist, and I wanted to share that with others.” In other news, as part of the SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme, the International Trade Centre has partnered with Absa Bank Kenya to launch the Access to Finance Accelerator programme, a six-week intensive training to enhance access to finance for women entrepreneurs in export businesses.
Emma Lewisham, the New Zealand-based luxury skin care range, is marking its U.S. retail expansion by launching into Credo Beauty. “Credo Beauty recognizes and supports our innovation when it comes to scientifically evidence-based, efficacious skin care that prioritizes natural ingredients, and our global leadership in pushing the beauty industry towards sustainability and circularity,” said Lewisham, whose range has found success in the U.K. and Australia. Meanwhile, Urban Skin Rx has been acquired by American Exchange Group (AEG) for an undisclosed sum, Cacharel is launching Ella Ella — its first new scent in almost a decade — and Dior has revealed that six women will join Charlize Theron as new ambassadors of Capture skin care this year. They include Glenn Close, Venus Williams, and Sonam Kapoor.
In beauty tech, L’Oréal and IBM are collaborating to create a groundbreaking generative AI (GenAI) foundation model, designed to “revolutionize cosmetic formulation with a focus on sustainability.”
