In breaking news from Milan, the Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella — the Italian apothecary and historic Florentine fragrance house — has named Giovanna Paoloni as its new CEO and general manager. Known as “the oldest pharmacy in the world,” the iconic perfumery was founded when monks of the Dominican monastery made medicinal concoctions sourced from their herb garden. Paoloni, previously Bottega Veneta’s general manager for Northern Europe, has her sights set on further international expansion for the brand. “My goal will be to accompany the brand in the next phase of internationalization and strong growth, with particular attention to product development and enhancement of our retail strategy also with the opening of new markets,” she said. 

In executive news closer to home, Pattern Beauty’s new Co-CEO, Christiane Pendarvis, shares her vision for the company’s future with CEW today. “The things that I bring to the table are growing and scaling a brand. And scaling it in a very short period of time,” says Pendarvis, who was previously Co-President of Fenty X Savage — Rihanna’s intimate apparel range — where she oversaw its sixfold revenue increase. “In that scenario, you’re recreating the company every 12 to 18 months: the size of the company, the operations, how you’re keeping people informed and integrated and collaborative.”

Target is aiming to maximize on consumers’ growing interest in health and wellbeing with the introduction of 1,000 new wellness products exclusive to the store. “Wellness has been redefined to encompass a more holistic way of living — and it’s also different for every person,” said Rick Gomez, Target’s Executive Vice President and Chief Food, Essentials and Beauty Officer. “That’s why Target is delivering like no other retailer, offering guests the ultimate destination to support their wellness journey.”

Hair care brand California Naturals means business, whilst demonstrating a creative sense of humor, with its annoumcement that Owen Wilson has come on board as an investor and ‘Chief Shampoo Officer’ for the company. A new campaign has just launched, starring Wilson, which will be shared across social media and in collaboration with 11 paid influencers.
