With the beauty world buzzing about the acquisition of Space NK by Ulta Beauty, CEW asked eight leading female beauty executives for their takes on the news. In addition, we spotlight the confirmation of Ulta Beauty’s K-beauty commitment, with the debut of K-Beauty World, its trailblazing platform of 200 SKUs from eight Korean beauty brands, curated by Sarah Chung Park, founder and CEO of Landing International.

In breaking sustainability news, the EcoBeautyScore Association has launched EcoBeautyScore, the first industry-wide, environmental scoring system for cosmetics and personal care products. According to Global Cosmetics News, L’Oréal, Neutrogena, and Nivea are among the first brands to get on board. And in other green beauty updates, eco-focused hair care brand Hairstory has debuted a new, sleek refillable bottle, with multiple, sustainability-focused features.

In her latest column for CEW, Money Matters With The Fiscal Femme, Ashley Feinstein Gerstley tackles budgeting for today’s inflation rises. “A recent poll of my Fiscal Femme community showed that 40% have had to create a new budget to account for rising costs,” writes Feinstein Gerstley, who offers nine steps to help you keep spending in check. Meanwhile, in business news, forbes.com asks, “Are Workplace Awards Still Worth It?”, and asks millennial professionals to share their personal experiences. “In a post-pandemic, DEI-backpedaling, results-over-resumé landscape, some are asking: is chasing workplace recognition still worth it?” reports Forbes contributor, Jasmine Browley.

In advance of Cosmoprof in Las Vegas, which runs from today through Thursday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, WWD sat down with Petra Ecclestone, daughter of founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Formula One Group, Bernie Ecclestone, about her new brand, Crickle Daisy, which she is showcasing at the event.  Designed for both adults and children, Ecclestone describes the formulas as being “clean, safe and good for your skin.” Meanwhile, here at CEW, we’re looking ahead to Beauty New York, which makes its debut this October at the Shops at the Oculus. “Envisioned as the New York Fashion Week for Beauty, it looks to honor the city’s legacy as a global epicenter of creativity, commerce, and influence – and ultimately gives beauty a marquee moment,” writes CEW’s Andrea Nagel.

In executive news, Kenvue has tapped its current Director, Kirk Perry, as its Interim CEO, effective immediately. Meanwhile, shareholders of Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA), which owns Boots, have approved the company’s acquisition by US private equity firm Sycamore Partners.
