What does it take for a beauty brand to succeed with TikTok ads? With 74% of users agreeing that beauty content has been a game changer for them, and the hashtag #beautyhacks scoring 941 million views across 73K posts in the last 120 days, the Charm team has identified the companies growing the fastest, and how different companies rank and compare.

Also at CEW, the July 2024 Product Watch has dropped, showcasing the month’s hottest new launches. Reporter Polly Blitzer takes a deep-dive into the distinctly summery scents — from Aerin Lauder’s re-imagined Amber Musk Santal Eau de Parfum, to Victoria Beckham Beauty’s glittering Portofino ’97 Golden Shimmer Body Oil debut — to the must-have makeup and hair care arrivals of note. In color cosmetics, Fenty Beauty’s inaugural lip liner is among the standouts, while, for hair, L’Oréal Professionnel’s Metal Detox Pre-Shampoo and Vegamour’s hi-tech scalp Dermaroller and Hair Serum make the list.

In skin care, TikTok-viral brand Bubble has unveiled a new trio of cleansers and is moving into a full bay at Ulta Beauty beginning July 21. In addition, four new Bubble products will be entering its Walmart lineup, and a further four stock keeping units are going into CVS Pharmacy.

In market news, Douglas, the German multinational beauty retailer, has raised its full year guidance for 2024 in advance of its Q3 results. It now expects a growth of 8.5% in sales, exceeding its prior prediction of 7%, as a result of online sales, and group sales for the first nine months of the financial year are predicted to rise by 8.7%, to approximately $3.82 billion at current exchange rates.

On the fragrance front, Unilever has announced that it has joined the Fragrance Creators Association and will collaborate with other Fragrance Creators to develop strategies designed to help educate consumers, promote science-based policies, and explore sustainable innovations in perfumery. “At Unilever, we are deeply committed to driving sustainable innovation backed by science and technologies across all aspects of our business,” said Vivek Sirohi, VP-fragrance at Unilever.
