In celebrity beauty news, Dior has announced the appointment of Jenna Ortega as its new International Ambassador for Dior Makeup. The American actress, already a Dior jewelry ambassador, will make her beauty debut in the Dior Backstage campaign, which releases today on Dior’s beauty social platforms. “Jenna Ortega embodies the bold elegance of the house,” the company said in a statement. “It is a tailor-made role for this rising star who, through her values and her personality, is already inspiring an entire generation.”
The Estée Lauder Companies and M·A·C Cosmetics, meanwhile, have tapped makeup artist Nicola Formichetti as Global Creative Director, effective May 19, 2025. “Nicola’s appointment is a bold step forward for M·A·C and for The Estée Lauder Companies,” commented Jane Hertzmark Hudis, Executive Vice President, Chief Brand Officer, The Estée Lauder Companies. Formichetti will report to Aïda Moudachirou-Rébois, M·A·C’s Senior Vice President and Global General Manager. In fragrance updates, Revlon has collaborated with rapper Ice Spice for a fragrance launch, due to drop in 2026.
With the challenges of working motherhood in mind, The Open University (OU) in the UK is addressing the mental health impact of what it calls the “motherhood penalty,” with a new initiative called the Mumentum campaign. “We believe that higher education should be accessible to all, and this includes mothers and primary care givers, who often face career setbacks due to systemic barriers,” said Josie Fraser, Interim Vice-Chancellor of The Open University. “Through the Mumentum campaign, we are equipping both employers and mothers with the tools they need to break down these obstacles and create a more inclusive, supportive workplace culture.” The OU has launched two toolkits —one for employers and one for mothers and primary caregivers — designed to support career re-entry, and “to foster confidence, reduce anxiety, and promote emotional wellbeing,” reports Bedford Today.
In breaking markets news, L’Oréal has issued its inaugural U.S. dollar-denominated bond, raising $1 billion with a maturity date of May 20, 2035. According to Global Cosmetics News, proceeds will used for corporate purposes.
E.l.f. Beauty is extending its global footprint, by entering the Kruidvat and Trekpleister drugstores in the Netherlands and Belgium. The range will be stocked in 776 Kruidvat and 183 Trekpleister brick and mortar stores beginning May 26, 2025, as well as being available online, at the retailers’ websites.
