Today at CEW, we report on The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Champions for Change Gala, which was held on May 14, to raise awareness and funds for skin cancer prevention, early detection, and education. CEW joined industry leaders at the event, which took place at Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City and drew more than 400 guests. Christie Brinkley hosted the evening and talked about her own skin cancer experience. “The Foundation also celebrated the return of its Destination Healthy Skin RV,” reports CEW’s Kaitlyn D’Angelo. “After raising $500,000 to fund a new vehicle, the Foundation is once again bringing free skin cancer screenings and education to communities across the country.”

Speaking of giving back, Mary Alice Stephenson, award-winning philanthropist and the founder and CEO of Glam4Good, has been named to the Fast Company Impact Council. The collective of business leaders meets throughout the year for invitation-only live events, and discussions. “I’m honored to contribute to conversations that shape a more inclusive and impactful future,” said Stephenson. “This council is a powerful platform to amplify ideas, drive action, and collaborate on solutions to some of the most pressing challenges of our time.”

In breaking news, Chanel has seen a 4.3% decrease in global sales, according to Global Cosmetics News. The house’s beauty and fragrance divisions experienced “uneven performance across key markets,” with Chanel’s total revenues in 2024 falling to $18.7 billion, with a 30% decline in operating profit to US$4.5 billion.

WWD has announced that celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta will be honored with its prestigious International Beauty Innovator of the Year award. WWD commented that Ta has “redefined modern glam, blending artistry with a skin-forward approach that emphasizes a radiant complexion.”

In cosmetics news, Avon’s head of R&D, Deb Pellen, has shared the brand’s vision for the future — which includes targeting the needs of the Gen Z beauty shopper. “We do need to be catering to more established target consumers,” said Pellen. “But we also need to bring the young consumer into the pipeline.” 

On the social media front, Advertising Week has a report on the recent CreatorIQ Connect Europe event. “Snapchat shared some eye-opening stats: more than 900 million users engage monthly, with 75% aged between 13 and 34,” it reports. “According to EMarketer, 85.6% of social shoppers said influencer content on Snapchat led them to make a purchase, surpassing both TikTok and Instagram.”

CEO World Magazine, in partnership with COSMOS Analytica, has published its 2025 Most Powerful Women in Business list. It showcases over 100 businesswomen across a diverse rage of sectors, including finance and technology, of whom 52 are from the U.S.. Meanwhile, as part of any interview series spotlighting Women Founders, Authority Magazine asked Bina Khan, Pakistani makeup artist and founder of Just B Cosmetics —  dedicated to offering “inclusive, multi-dimensional makeup,” — what it has taken her to thrive and succeed as a woman founder.
