As pressure mounts for beauty brands to make sustainability center stage in their missions, CEW talks to Catherine D’Aragon, General Manager, North America at Laboratoires Expanscience, about the company’s trailblazing green track record. “As a company, we continuously seek ways to better serve our consumers and the planet,” D’Aragon tells CEW reporter Polly Blitzer. “This includes exploring new sourcing solutions and packaging options, as well as reducing pollution and our carbon footprint.”

Announced to coincide with World Mental Health Day today, Maybelline has tapped four-time grand slam tennis champion Naomi Osaka as the face of its Brave Together program. “Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health and yet taking the leap to get help can feel intimidating,” says Osaka. “I’m excited to partner with Maybelline New York to support the Brave Together program and help those facing anxiety and depression. I want everyone to know they are not alone.”

WWD has published an updated version of its list of beauty and wellness brand retail expansions of 2024, including Sephora U.S.’s new partnership with Isdin, a Puig-backed, Spanish sun protection brand. In other sun care news, Le Rub is a new brand on the block, founded by former makeup artist Kim Maes and Raf Maes, a seasoned brand builder. And in other launch news, Sarah Kugelman, founder of Skyn Iceland, has debuted All Golden, a luxury beauty and lifestyle brand for women 45 that designed to help them “feel as vibrant as ever,” she says.

Across the pond, John Lewis has made the decision to scrap the role of CEO, under the new chairmanship of Jason Tarry. The department store’s current CEO, Nish Kankiwala, has been in position since 2023. Tarry will take over at the executive leadership helm.
