Today at CEW, we talk to the clean beauty entrepreneur inspiring the cosmetics industry to brush up its act. Anisa Telwar Kaicker is the founder of cruelty-free makeup brush brand Anisa International, which has created brushes for over 120 private label brands, in addition to its own, eponymous range. “I look to share what we do so it will benefit the whole industry” says Kaicker, who has been in the brush business for 30 years. “For everybody to get it, that’s how we all might do better.”

Also at CEW, we report on Patchology’s latest innovation, the Skincare Booster, which launched yesterday. Featuring SkinSeal technology, the new invisible face mask is designed to be used daily to help actives penetrate more effectively. “These polymers self-assemble to create a breathable matrix that traps skin care actives in the skin,” Mathilde La Marre, Patchology’s Director of Product Innovation, told CEW reporter Victoria Kirby.

In breaking news, Cassandra Grey has bought back Violet Grey, the Los Angeles-based beauty retailer, from Farfetch. Grey partnered with private equity investor Sherif Guirgis, who is co-owner, Chairman and CEO, while Sarah Brown remains Chief Brand Officer. “I’m very excited for the next chapter of Violet Grey as we continue our mission as the most trusted destination for discovery and best-in-class beauty,” said Brown.

Lancôme has tapped 19-year-old actress Nico Parker as its latest face. “It’s a dream come true,” said Parker, who is the youngest ambassador of the brand to date. “If you look at the ambassadors Lancôme has had, they’re all so beautiful and elegant, but they’re also really talented and strong women,” commented Parker. Meanwhile, in fragrance news, Harris Reed, Creative Director at Nina Ricci, has created his first scent for the brand, Vénus. “My involvement in perfume was one of the most exciting counterparts to the design and fashion,” he said.

In brand incubator news, Ulta Beauty has announced its 2024 MUSE Accelerator cohort, designed to boost eight BIPOC beauty and wellness brands, with one entrepreneur receiving a $10,000 bonus. Applications will be accepted through September 23. “As retail leaders and brand builders, we seek to create space and opportunities for all brands to thrive in our industry and nurture an inclusive assortment that reflects the beautifully diverse community we serve,” said Monica Arnaudo, Chief merchandising Officer at Ulta Beauty.

On the other side of the pond, L’Oréal Paris will host its largest ever consumer beauty event, The Worth It Experience, taking place over five days in London (September 19-23). The event will include ticketed masterclasses, talks, and panel discussions. “As a brand with an enduring commitment to self-worth, we are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to share the world of L’Oréal Paris directly with consumers,” said Amelie Fortier-Cyr, GM of L’Oréal Paris UK&I.
