Today at CEW, we talk Ayurvedic beauty with some of the headers in the category. Case in point is Michelle Ranavat, founder of RANAVAT, and a first-generation Indian American who created her range after experiencing post-partum hair loss and skin issues. Turning to the ancient Ayurvedic beauty tradition, Ranavat experimented with ingredients from Indian grocery stores, and consulted her mother as part of her research. “When anyone in the beauty industry finds something that works, they want to tell everyone about it, and that’s what I was very passionate about,” Ranavat told CEW reporter Paige Herman-Axel. Now available at Sephora U.S., Canada’s Holt Renfew, Harrods, and Cult Beauty in the U.K., Ranavat has plans to take the products even further afield. “I see us expanding around the globe and even deeper within the U.S. and Canada,” she said.

In breaking news, Vichy Laboratoires has tapped “Glucose Goddess” Jessie Inchauspé as its new ambassador. The appointment comes as the dermocosmetics brand, which is owned by L’Oréal, leans further into holistic health. Meanwhile, Sephora has tapped three of its Sephora Accelerate brands – Mango People, Sienna Naturals and Brown Girl Jane – to be part of its new Sephora x TikTok Incubator Program, designed to promote diverse representation in beauty and music. Each brand partnered with a Sephora Sounds artist to make a custom music track encapsulating their brand identity, teaming up with a trio of TikTok creators to bring the tracks to life on their platforms.

Lorne Lucree has left his position at Unilever, where he was a strategic innovation advisor for the prestige division and SVP at Tatcha, to launch his own beauty consultancy, Quiet Coyote. Lucree will partner with brands yet to hit the market, as well as those which need a refresh. And on the other side of the pond, Prada Beauty has made its debut at the Lookfantastic retail website. Starting tomorrow, the brand is hosting four pop-up events in the U.K. to promote the launch, featuring interactive elements and the chance to win products. The final event will be located outside Lookfantastic’s upcoming Manchester store, from October 11 to October 13.
