What guarantees a fragrance the sweet smell of success right now? At CEW today, we pick up the scent with Spate’s 2024 Annual Fragrance Trends Report. “A key trend identified is the sustained appeal of edible scents — fragrances inspired by the rich, indulgent aromas of desserts and culinary delights,” writes CEW reporter Melissa Hago. “There is also an increased interest in less classic product formats.” Along with a surge in the popularity of roll-on perfumes, hair mists, and body sprays, the report also reveals the rise of niche, higher-end names.

Speaking of scent, Creed’s CEO, Sarah Rotheram, is stepping down from her role at the end of October. Until a new CEO is announced, Raffaella Cornaggia, Kering Beauté’s CEO, will take over the helm in leading the brand’s strategic development. “I want to thank her for all that she has achieved with this fantastic brand,” Cornaggia said of Rotheram. “She has built a great team, and she leaves the business well-positioned to enter its next stage of growth.” In other fragrance news, DKNY 24/7 Eau de Parfum — created by DSM-Firmenich’s Frank Voelkl — is a woody-floral that “encapsulates the energy of NYC and is a tribute to those who are always on the move.”

In breaking news, hot on the heels of tapping Angelina Jolie as the face of its new Runway Lip Color range, Tom Ford has appointed Haider Ackermann as its new Creative Director. The Columbian-born French designer succeeds Peter Hawkings at the Estée Lauder Cos. (ELC)-owned fashion and beauty brand.

In brick-and-mortar news, Sephora is making its 10th anniversary in Australia with a makeover of its 693 square meter flagship store in Melbourne. Meanwhile, in skin care, Tammy Demos — co-founder of Cosmetix And Osmosis — is debuting a new, synthetic ingredient-free brand, Kleos+Klea. “I’m pushing clean to be cleaner,” said Demos.
