If you weren’t in the room for CEW’s exclusive event featuring Artemis Patrick, President and CEO of Sephora North America, on March 11, you not only missed a powerhouse gathering of beauty’s biggest names, but Patrick’s insights on Sephora’s vision, innovation, and the future of beauty retail.

Hosted by Dotdash Meredith at the company’s headquarters located at 225 Liberty Street, Patrick addressed important issues, including how AI is leveling up service in-store.

“We have a proprietary skin scan that can shade match and tell you what products are best for your skin. We get 100,000 scans a week, in-store, with a 70% conversion.  Recently, we integrated AI into [this tool] to not just [output data] based on your history, but to add the kinds of product you would like. Now, the tech doesn’t just inform on what someone has bought, it suggests items based on what they like, in terms of glowing skin or a summertime look, and what other people with this type of skin also like. It takes [product recommendation] to the next level,” Patrick told the audience of 350 beauty executives from companies including P&G Beauty, L’Oreal Luxe, Shiseido, Briogeo, Ogee, Amore Pacific, Meta, Saie, Sol de Janeiro, Charlotte Tilbury, Kosas, Glow Recipe, Glossier, and Makeup by Mario. The discussion was moderated by Jill Scalamandre, CEW Chairwoman, and Beekman 1802 CEO.

NielsenIQ kicked off the program with key insights on the Sephora shopper, while select members of Sephora’s merchandising team joined Patrick on stage following her talk to address audience Q&As, offering insights into makeup, fragrance, and hair care trends.
