Abigail James is the SVP and Chief Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DE&I) Officer at Macy’s Inc. In her role, she oversees Macy’s, Inc.’s DE&I programs and leads the company’s efforts to be the beacon of diversity, equity and inclusion for its colleagues, customers, and communities.

Abigail is a high performing and innovative retail executive and has been with Macy’s, Inc. for 27 years, most recently serving as SVP of Marketing – Customer Activation. She has also served as interim Chief Brand Officer and has broad experience across the enterprise in marketing, merchandising and financial planning and analysis.

Having been responsible for both driving the business and driving the culture, Abigail is a trailblazer in the organization that delivers exceptional results and creates new leaders. Driving the culture of the organization is a passion point where she has fostered effective partnerships and collaborations across a highly matrixed organization. She serves as a member of the board of directors of New Yorkers for Children and has served on the board of directors of the U.S. Travel Association.
