With over 20 years of general management, business strategy, consumer marketing, digital and
innovation experience, Cara is currently the CEO of Sundial Brands, makers of SheaMoisture,
Nubian Heritage, nyakio beauty, emerge and MCJW – inspired by the legacy of Madam C.J. Walker.
Prior to her current role, she held management positions in prestige beauty, leading Global Marketing
for Clinique $1B Makeup and Fragrance portfolio as well as Marketing for NARS Cosmetics’ Americas
business.
Earlier in her beauty career, she held positions at Johnson & Johnson on Neutrogena and at L’Oreal
where she was the Assistant Vice President of Marketing for the L’Oreal Paris Haircare division.
Prior to Beauty, Cara joined, the then burgeoning company, Capital One Financial, where she launched
the first “What’s in Your Wallet?” campaign. And she began her post-MBA career at Kraft Foods where
she worked on the venerable Maxwell House coffee brand, among others.
She holds a B.A. degree in Spanish from the University of Virginia, and an MBA from Duke University’s
Fuqua School of Business. She is the Chairperson of the Minority Alumni Advisory Board for Duke
University’s Fuqua’s School of Business; and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In her free
time Cara enjoys travel, having visited 30+ countries and multi-day endurance cycling events. Cara lives
in the New York area with her husband and 3 teenaged stepchildren.
