Tera Peterson

NuFACE Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Tera Peterson, is an expert microcurrent aesthetician with a true passion for innovative skincare solutions. Inspired by her mother, a renowned aesthetician herself, Peterson pursued her own license, specializing in microcurrent, and quickly recognized the need for at-home treatments to help clients maintain results.

In 2005, Peterson founded NuFACE with her mother and sister and launched the first at-home microcurrent device, pioneering the specialization in microcurrent facials and setting the bar for all future devices in the category. The NuFACE Classic Device quickly became iconic, recognized as the first hand-held, FDA-cleared Microcurrent Device for at-home use. Under Peterson’s leadership, NuFACE has continued innovating over the last 16+ years with a portfolio of four tools for the face and body and has solidified its position as the #1 at-home skincare device in the US (Source: NPD data).

Following the debut of the breakthrough NuFACE Classic Device, NuFACE continued to revolutionize and lead the industry with a list of notable firsts including NuBODY, the first at-home microcurrent device for the body, the launch of Microcurrent Skincare powered by proprietary IonPlex® blend, and NEW Smart Devices equipped with app-enabled 3-Depth Technology to target different layers from the skin’s surface deep down to the facial muscles and with capabilities allowing syncing device-to-app for clients to lift with and track, most recently breaking the internet and crashing the app with the launch of the “Fitness for your Face” campaign, which drove 196% increase in traffic and 194% increase in sales.

Additionally, Peterson oversaw strategic global expansion to top-tier retailers and professional offices domestically and internationally. NuFACE is sold in key retailers including Nordstrom, Ulta, Sephora, and QVC, and was introduced to international markets including Asia and the UK.

NuFACE has won industry awards and recognition as an innovator, with accolades such as a 3x winner of the coveted Allure ‘Best of Beauty’ awards and winner of CEW’s 2023 Awards skincare tool category.

Peterson received a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Management from the University of San Diego in 2000 and earned her professional aesthetician’s license in 2002. She currently resides in Southern California with her husband and twin girls.
