Today at CEW, we spotlight the latest Spate report on Emerging Themes in Beauty. With wellness, identity, efficacy, and efficiency becoming ever more important to consumers, Spate is connecting the dots between TikTok and Google trends, to identify the shifts in behavior that brands need to know about.

In breaking news, SharkNinja has tapped Michelle Crossan-Matos, formerly Ulta Beauty’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), as its first ever Chief Growth Officer. Crossan-Matos comes to her new role with over two decades of international leadership experience in the beauty, consumer electronics, and luxury sectors.

In other executive news, L’Oréal heiress, Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, has stepped down from her seat on the company’s board after 28 years. She has transferred her board seat to the family’s holding company, Téthys, and assigned one of her sons to her Vice-Chair position. Meanwhile, Coty has appointed Björn Strumann as its new Executive Vice President (EVP) for Europe. And French beauty retailer Oh My Cream has bought the U.K. e-commerce site Naturisimo, for an undisclosed sum. The move comes as part of Oh My Cream’s European expansion plans.

Oddity Tech has reported its Q1 results, with a revenue of $268 million, representing an increase of 27% year-over-year. “The beauty industry continues to transform, as we said it would,” said Oran Holtzman, Oddity co-founder and CEO. “The structural changes in the industry, including the growth of online, are only strengthening as the store model is less suited for the current environment. It only makes our opportunity bigger.” In other markets news, THG shares dropped 6% after the Lookfantastic owner reported a downturn in its full-year 2024 revenue, which fell to $2.2 billion, down from $2.32 billion in 2023, at current exchange rates.

In brick and mortar headlines, Chanel has announced the closure of its Atelier Beauté in New York City. The Soho standalone store shuttering comes as part of the company’s streamlining operation. Meanwhile, indie scent brand Ranger Station has opened a NYC store, and is planning to follow with more shop openings.

On the tech front, pundits are buzzing about the upcoming Apple Watch SE 3 updates including a considerably bigger display screen.
