How is AI pioneering a new era of beauty innovation, and how can brands go about balancing technological progress with ethical stewardship? Today at CEW, we report on a new white paper from Beautystreams which asks what the AI revolution means for the beauty industry. The paper analyses the ways that companies, such as Nuritas and Robertet, are utilising AI to develop consumer-centric, highly personalized skin care, AR virtual try-ons and new formulations, and to research sustainable ingredients.
In skin care, Neutrogena is launching Collagen Bank, a new range aimed at younger customers, with actress Hailee Steinfeld as its spokesperson. The collection will roll out first on TikTok. Meanwhile, Naomi Watts’s midlife-targeted Stripes range is entering Canada, exclusively at Hudson’s Bay. “My dream is that no woman has to navigate menopause alone, and this expansion allows us to continue making a difference in the lives of women, in partnership with one of Canada’s most premier and trusted shopping destinations,” said Watts.
Avon is making headlines after filing for bankruptcy to deal with lawsuits relating to talc-related cancer claims. And in other breaking news, Bioelements Group, a Latin America and US-based sustainable packaging company, has tapped Irene Teruel for its newly created position of Head of Growth and Business Development for the U.S. market. Meanwhile, Indu – the British brand targeted at teens and founded by the creators of Feelunique – has raised $5.1 million in seed funding from Unilever Ventures.
Opening tomorrow and running through September 5, Addiction Tokyo will host a pop-up at Bloomingdale’s New York flagship store, showcasing its bestsellers and the new fall 2024 makeup line-up. “There is a strong appetite for Japanese beauty from the U.S. consumer,” said Sharon del Valle, General Manager at Kosй America Inc. “We have been overwhelmed by the growing community of makeup artists, influencers and consumers embracing the brand.”
